Hi,
I was excited to find your post about Phebus in Pickaway Co., OH and Fountain Co., IN. My gggrandparents were Sarah Phebus (born 1807 KY) and Jesse Martin (born 1802 MD). I believe that Sarah is the dau of John and Barbara (Stewart) Phebus. She may have been married to a John or James Phebus in Pickaway Co on 9/22/1819. I haven't found a marriage record for Sarah and Jesse and I don't know is her husband John Phebus died. Jesse Martin came to Fountain Co, Wabash Twp, IN in 1823 with Forgus Graham, (probably from Madison Co., OH), after the death of Jesse's mother. The Phebus, Hibbs, Grahams, Cade and Alkire all seem to have come to Wabash Twp at the same time. There is a John P. Martin, (married to Valinda Davis), (and son of Robert Martin and Nancy Phebus), who bought property next to Jesse Martin and the Phebus families. Jesse is not listed as a child of Robert Martin in Robert's Rev War Pension Application but I feel that he may be related. If anyone can help me to find the parents of Jesse Martin, I would be very greatful. I have a lot of Phebus info and would be happy to share.
