: Hello! I'd like to share some information from the Febus-Febo line of my family & if anyone can share some new information w/ me...GREATTTT! We reside in Canóvanas, Puerto Rico (before known as part of Loíza, Puerto Rico. The information below was gathered by my great uncles. They hired a lawyer Luis O. Villalobos whom investigated the follow information:
: The name Phoibos/Febus/Febo was from Greek & from there it went to Italy. The italians took it the Canary Islands were it migrated to America from the 16th to 19th century. The first Febo or Febus to migrate to America was Simón Febo (I'll write from know on Febo) on January 15, 1571. From what I've learned the people responsible for the many changes in the name are the Catholic Church in the translation from Italian to Latin to Spanish or English they changed & rechanged the name. My father appears as Efrain Rivera Febus while his parents are Juan Rivera & Inocencia Febo in his baptism record.
: In the Febo report they write about how there is a big group of Febo from Naranjito & Arecibo but they are not descendents of my gggreatgrandfather from my line of the family:
: Cayetano Febus (1809-1904) married Petronila López de Victoria-Ramírez de Arellano (1829-1926), both natural from Caguas, Puerto Rico, on the 24th of May, 1952 in Loíza. Cayetano was the son of Cayetana Febus. In Cayetano's marriage certificate he appears as Febus but all his children appear as Febo. Also it seems his father is missing....??? After they married the stayed in Loíza (Canóvanas), Puerto Rico. They had the following children:
: Emeterio Febo b.1853, m. Leocadia Agosto
: Felipa Febo b.1856, m Perfecto Flores
: Florentino Febo b.1858, m. Francisca Rodriguez
: Florentina Febo b.1858, m. Dionisio Pérez
: Francisco Febo b.1859, m. Cosmelina Flores
: Juan Eduviges Febo b.1861, m. Hipolita Hernandez, then Teresa Algarín then Filomena Toledo
: Jose Manuel Febo b. 1863 d. 1883
: Maria Saturnina Febo b. 1871, m. Raymundo Beatncourt
: Juan Maria Febo m. Adela Flores
: Carmen Rafaela Febo m. Sergio Flores
: My grandmother Inocencia Febo is granddaughter of both Juan Maria & Juan Eduviges.
: If any one knows of Cyetano or Petronila the info would come in handy & if any one is related just e-mail me! Thanks! & It's nice seeing how our name has many variants!
