Availability of Source Code

This message board program was created to serve the general public. Floersch Enterprises is offering it free of charge to any non-profit organization, educational institution, government branch, or individuals who wish to use it. We are also offering it to for-profit companies on a need based system. Floersch Enterprises is a small growing company and we know all to well the ill effects of being small. Most small companies will on a need basis be allowed to use this software free of charge as well. E-mail us to see if you qualify. The free version comes with certain limitations.

The download of this software is subject to the terms of our license. No modifications or redistributions are permitted. This software is provided as is and with out either implied or expressed waranty.

For the most current version of WebForum you may come see its home at Storm's info Central. We have plenty more scripts including banner image scripts, and a chatroom script. All offered under similar license agreements.

Licensing WebForum for Your Site

1. You may apply bug fixes, portability fixes and other modifications derived from Floersch Enterprises.

a) Change variable values.

System Requirements

Thus far this software has been tested on Netscape's NetSite and Commerce Servers, the Apache server, and NCSA's httpd server. It should work on any server which does not require chmod to write permission on subdirectories of your HTML directories.

You must have the ability to setup the program script and admin script in an executeable directory such as the cgi-bin directory.

This software was designed and tested on UNIX servers and will NOT work on NT or PC based OS's. This version has been tested on OSF/1, Linux, and Solaris with no problems.

Future Upgrades

All future upgrades are implied and are not garunteed to be inacted.

• Thread numbering for Follow up sections.
  This will place a number of submessages count at the end of each open folder in the follow up sections of each individual message.
• On the fly Gzip compression of messages.
  This will allow your limited disk space to serve you much better!
• Ability to remove old messages without removing an entire thread.
• Ability to setup multiple password and usrids for the admin functions.
• Ability to setup topic administrators.
  This will allow you to give administrative functions over to others for a selected topic while retaining your control over the entire site.
• The ability to remove messages by author.
• A subroutine to remove foul language!
• HTTP file upload to mimic real newsgroup systems.

Limitations

For the free version we expect that the code will be untampered with. This means that you may not remove header or footer code from the scripts or modify them in such a way as to remove our copyright information. This software required alot of work and we do not expect anyone to take credit for our hard work

No part of this code may be used in another application to be sold or distributed without proper licensing agreements.

The commercail version of this software may be modified in anyway seen fit by the purchaser so long as it is not redistributed nor sold.
