Notes

After Sarah Susan Walker and Hudson Reeves married, they lived in Humphreys County and afterwards moved to Dyer County, West Tennessee near Trimble. Later they located at Ridgely in Lake County. Sarah Susan was the second child and oldest of the Walker sisters. She was in many respects a fine woman, gentle and lovable. She was a great reader and well versed on all current events. She had a remarkable memory not only of present occurrences but events many years ago. To her I (Alice Atkins Phebus) am indebted for much of the early data that I give here. Spending the day in our home, I asked her in the afternoon many questions and for all information she could give me regarding the family history. In the conversation, she told me that her family were prominent people and had much to do with the making of this country. She was greatly beloved and had many traits worthy of immulation." This was written by Alice Atkins Phebus.
