--------------------------------- From The Troy Free Press Date line, October 1, 1980: Grace Vivian Morris, 86, of Elsberry, MO, died September 27, 1980 at Lincoln County Memorial Hospital in Troy, MO. Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. Monday from Ricks Funeral Home, Elsberry, MO. Rev. Marvin Braungardt officiating, assisted by Rev. Linda Newill. Interment was in the Mill Creek Cemetery near Silex, MO. She was born January 31,1896 [s/b 1894] in Lincoln County to Joel B. and Effie (nee, Pearl) Phoebus. She was married January 31, 1915 in Elsberry to William T. Morris and he died February 22, 1961. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Franklin (Elsie) Miller of Elsberry and Mrs. Oma Simpson of Boonville, MO, three sons; Milford and Billy Joe Morris of St Louis and Warren Morris of San Francisco, CA.; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sister; Sarah Richards of Des Moines, Iowa and Alice Cook of Hannibal, MO, two brothers; Samuel Phoebus of Vandalia, MO; and J.C. Phoebus of Centralia MO. Mrs. Morris was a lifetime resident of Lincoln County. She was a member of the Elsberry United Methodist Church. -------------------------------------------
