Bill Phebus worked in Krebs and Kiowa. He wore tweed suits with vests.
Bill and Modine Anderson, parents of Tilly, sharecropped Grandpa Phebus
land.
Evie or Effie was Grandpa Phebus wife.

"William Phebus, 81, Pioneer Peace Officer, Dies
KREBS- William Morris Phebus, 81, pioneer county resident and former U.S.
deputy marshal, died yesterday at his home after a lingering illness.
Phebus was born in Leadhill, Ark., on Oct. 15, 1868. He had been a
resident of Pittsburg county most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Phebus of the home, three daughters..
two sons...six stepdaughters...a sister...eleven grandchildren and three
great-
grandchildren."
The sister listed is Mrs. Sally Hammer of Chicago but I have no Sally in
his
family. this could possibly be Sarah.

Wm. Morris Phebus was a mine guard at Cambry, Alderson, and Adamson in
Oklahoma.
He worked his way up to head guard. He had a farm at Carbon. He raised
race
horses. He built a town house in Krebs. He was a U.S. Deputy Marshall
out of
Fort Smith for Judge Parker. He was City Marshall at Kiowa and Krebs.
He got
shot once a half inch below his heart and they left the bullet. He had
gone
to California to pick up a prisoner. The guy had a gun hidden in his
boot.
Grandpa ran for Pittsburg Co. sheriff one time.
