Notes

!MARRIAGE: 1798; Possibly in Kentucky, Madison Co, Ohio, Tippecanoe Co., Indiana or Nebraska. !MILITARY: War of 1812-Ohio. !RESIDENCE: John Phebus is thought to have first settled in Fayette Co., Ohio but all courthouse records were lost in a fire in 1828. He and his sister, Jemima who married Enoch Thomas settled in Fairfield Twp., Madison Co., Ohio about 1807. Jemima Thomas died in 1822 and probably was buried in the family cemetery which was located on the farm of John Phebus. It was known as the Opossum Run cemetery and later as the Fitzgerald cemetery. John Phebus had a sister Bridget who married Jesse Fitzgerald, a descendant probably lived on this same farm in Madison county, hence the name Fitzgerald cemetery. John and Barbara moved to Tippecanoe Co., Indiana then west to Nebraska and lived last in Iowa. They spent some time in the Ozarks of Missouri. SOURCE: Family Group Sheet by Rosalyn Vincent 14653 Michigan Ave., Marshall, MI Dec. 1984 !CENSUS: 1850 Jasper Co., Missouri; 28 Aug 1850. Enumerated with daughter, Mary and her husband, William Kerr.
